The term improvisational “overall” refers to designing a quilt that is not based on individual blocks of repeated patterns. Instead, we will look at the use of shapes, lines and colosr in the whole quilt, the “overall design” without the limitations of traditional guidelines, rules and patterns. This class will be a creative, collective and personal journey as you engage with others and challenge yourself to be expressive and trusting of your intuitive and dynamic sense of design in the quilting arts.
There will be homework in-between two session, so be prepared to do some extra sewing (like we had to twist your arm!).
Skill requirements: Basic machine sewing skills and previous quilt making experience required. You don't need to be an expert by any means, but we don't have time to cover the basics of quilt making during this workshop.
All materials purchased from The Makehouse will be discounted by 20%
Equipment requirements: We encourage you to bring your machine from home so that you can work with the one you're used to, however you are welcome to use on of the studio machines if you prefer.
